About Build For CT

Build For CT program is a collaborative housing initiative between the Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA). Leveraging $200 million in State bonding to address the housing needs of Connecticut's middle-income renters, this innovative public-private partnership aims to ensure that residents have access to quality housing while contributing to the state's economic vitality and future growth. 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Provide subordinate below market financing in partnership with approved senior lenders to facilitate the development of market rate and workforce housing.
  • Minimum 20% of units are restricted to middle-income renters earning between 60-120% of Area Median Income (AMI).
  • Loan types included construction-to-permanent and permanent-only loans.
  • Financing Development activities include to be built or recently completed market rate multifamily developments; new construction, adaptive reuse or substantial rehab.
  • Flexible and below market loan terms.
